Tips of baking Healthy Cookies and Recipe

“Nothing says home like the smell of baking.”  This is true, the dish doesn’t need to be hide or named when you bake it, it can be smelled.  Baking is a therapy, a stress buster, a hobby to pursue. The aroma of the baking makes you unstoppable to eat it, feel it on your palate. Some enjoy experimenting in the baking, for some it is a therapeutic and for some it is just fun.

Live, love and eat cookies.” Freshly baked cookies have their own fragrance which is incomparable to any market bought biscuits. So in the packed cookies/biscuits what you are missing is, its freshness and its astonishing fragrance.

Let’s make these small flat tiny balls which we called cookies in our own way. Actually we don’t need any proper recipe to make cookies like we need in cakes. We can manipulate the flours, replace chocolate chips with our desired dry fruits, we can even exclude the baking soda and baking powder in many of the recipes. I generally prefer not to use refined flour/maida in our home made baked cookies, so my recipes will never have unhealthy flours. You can always add refined flour as per your taste.

Recipes of Healthy cookies:

Here, I will be sharing some of the recipes of commonly made cookies, which are all time favorite ones. These cookies are by default loved by all the family members, especially the children.  Did I mention they are healthy too… Yes, indeed they are, because they are home-made, no added preservatives, no refined sugar, no Soda and no BP and flour will be our choice. As I already said, we can replace flour of our choice and as per the taste.

What is most important about baking is thoroughly follow the steps? Over mixing, putting too much pressure on dough is all going to ruin your resultant bakes. So you don’t have to be scared of baking , you just have be cautious in following steps. This way your door for baking will open and you will love experimenting it. Enjoy Happy Baking!!

->Oats Chocolate chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies the most demanded ones in everyone’s house, why not make them at home, with minimum ingredients. They are very easy to make and tastes heavenly. 

Ingredients

Wheat flour   1 and ¼ cup

Oats  ½ cup

Cocoa powder  2tablespoon

Cane Sugar  ¾ cup

Butter  ¾ cup

Vanilla essence   1 teaspoon

Milk  3 to 4 tablespoon

Chocolate Chips  ½ cup

Method:

  • First measure the dry ingredients-> take flour, oats, and cocoa powder and give it a mix.
  • Beat the butter and sugar together, till it is light and fluffy. To this add vanilla essence and beat it.
  • Now, you just have to make dough by mixing dry ingredients into the butter sugar mix. Try to mix with the gentle hand, if you find the dough is dry add 1-2 tablespoon of milk and adjust the consistency.
  • Most important thing you should remember is, never knead the dough, mix the dry and wet ingredients gently to get crunchy and porous cookies.
  • Make the small equal balls and shape them as cookies. Place them on the greased baking tray. Freeze these cookies for 30 mins or more.
  • Meanwhile preheat the oven/OTG for 10mins at 160 degrees. After 30mins take the baking tray out from the fridge and place in the preheated oven. Bake at 160degrees for about 15 to 20 mins. Keep your eyes on the cookies.
  • After they are baked perfectly, brown and crispy, let them cool on cooling tray and then place them in air tight container and consume it.
  • They will tastes awesome for a week, after that its taste start changing. So, bake as much it is required and finish off in a week or two.

 

->Coconut cookies/ Nariyal Cookies

This is another standard cookie which is being loved by all of us. Its overloaded coconut flavor,  is the reason behind its love.  How much ever you experiment with the original food, the taste of original ones is epic and can’t be substituted.  Coconut cookies can be made with very few ingredients.

Ingredients:

Wheat flour   1 cup

Desiccated Coconut  ½ cup + 1 Tablespoon

Butter  1 /3 cup

Cane Sugar   ½ cup

Cardamom powder 1 tsp

Milk  2to 3 tablespoon

Method:        

  • Measure the dry ingredients-> flour, coconut and mix them together(leave 1 tablespoon of coconut powder for covering the cookies)
  • Now measure butter and sugar and beat them till light and fluffy.
  • Mix both dry and wet ingredients and prepare soft dough. Make balls out of the dough. Roll these balls on the desiccated coconut and place them on the greased baking tray.
  • Freeze these cookies for 30mins. Meanwhile, preheat the oven/OTG for 10mins at 160 degrees. After 30mins take the baking tray out from the fridge and place in the preheated oven. Bake at 160degres for about 15 to 20 mins. Keep your eyes on the cookies.
